that combines both
memorial masonry
and
funeral operative
responsibilities. This is a rewarding position for someone who values craftsmanship, care, and the privilege of helping families during their most difficult times.
The Role
As a
Memorial Mason & Funeral Operative
, you will divide your time between supporting families with memorial choices, working hands-on within our
monumental masonry department
, and assisting with funerals and day-to-day operational duties.
Memorial Masonry & Sales
Guiding families through the process of choosing the right headstone or memorial, offering empathy, understanding, and expert advice.
Preparing quotations, managing administration, and liaising with clients from initial enquiry through to installation.
Liaising with local
councils, churches, and cemeteries
to obtain permits for memorial erections.
Assisting in the fixing, renovation, and maintenance of memorials and headstones.
Supporting the masonry workshop with cutting, engraving, and preparation work.
Ensuring all memorial and masonry work is completed safely, accurately, and to the highest professional standards.
Funeral Operations
Acting as
chauffeur and pallbearer
at funerals, representing the company with professionalism and dignity.
Assisting with the care and preparation of the deceased in our private facilities.
Supporting families during
chapel visits
, ensuring a calm and compassionate environment.
Assisting with
out-of-hours transfers
and the conveying of the deceased into our care.
Maintaining funeral vehicles to a high standard and supporting housekeeping duties across the business.
Requirements
Full UK driving licence (essential).
Applicants must live within
25 minutes of our Nuneaton Head Office
to fulfil on-call responsibilities.
Physically fit and confident with manual handling.
Practical, hands-on skills and safe tool use.
A professional, compassionate, and respectful manner.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Confident liaising with families, churches, and local authorities.
Previous experience in
memorial masonry
or
funeral operations
is desirable, though
full training will be provided
.
Working Hours
Full-time role, Monday-Friday.
Saturday rota (shared within the team).
Participation in the on-call rota is essential
-- this includes out-of-hours removals and supporting families in need. Applicants must ensure they can fully commit to this important responsibility.
