We are now looking for a Men's DVA Support Worker to join us on a part-time basis, working 18.75 hours per week, for a fixed term contract until March 2026.

The Role
As a Men's DVA Support Worker at Housing for Women, you will provide practical and emotional outreach support to male survivors of domestic abuse in a safe, respectful, and empowering way.
Specifically, you will deliver one-to-one support via in-person outreach, phone, and digital communication, carrying out risk assessments and creating safety plans tailored to each individual's needs.
Working collaboratively with partner agencies, you will co-ordinate care and advocate on behalf of service users, while raising awareness and challenging stigma around male experiences of domestic abuse.
In this multifaceted role, you will assist with housing, legal, benefit, and health-related matters, while also monitoring personalised support plans that reflect the goals and progress of each individual.
Additionally, you will:
Promote service awareness through outreach, training, and community education
Respond to safeguarding concerns in line with policy and statutory procedures
Maintain accurate, confidential service records and update relevant databases
Participate in audits, supervision, and service reviews
About You
To be considered as a Men's DVA Support Worker, you will need:
A minimum of 18 months' experience working with male adults in a support setting
Experience undertaking individual assessments and delivering support plans
Experience and understanding of lone working risks
Experience of building professional relationships internally and externally
Experience using Microsoft Office or equivalent, including Outlook, Word and Excel
A thorough understanding of safeguarding protocols
Strong crisis management and decision-making skills
The ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
A good understanding of confidentiality, data protection and professional boundaries
Educated to NVQ Level 3, A Level standard, or equivalent practice-based experience

Overall Aim
To provide direct person centred practical and emotional outreach support to male survivors of domestic abuse in a safe respectful and empowering way
To be responsible for supporting access to a range of interventions and support measures as part of an integrated package of support to survivors of DVA.
To work in partnership with local and national services to promote awareness and challenge the stigma around male experiences of domestic abuse, both within services and the wider community
To deliver support services within the standards and contract assessment and monitoring framework set out by our Commissioners and funders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1 to 1 emotional and practical support to male survivors of domestic abuse through in-person outreach, phone and digital contact
Carry out risk assessments and develop safety plans tailored to each individuals circumstance
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to coordinate care and advocacy for survivors
Raise awareness of the service and the needs of male survivors by contributing to outreach, training and partnership building activities

Customer Focus
Provide a trauma informed support service to male survivors of domestic violence and abuse
Empower service users to take an active lead in their support, developing personalised support plans in collaboration with survivors focusing on safety, housing, health, emotional wellbeing and long term recovery
Promote engagement by being flexible trauma informed and sensitive to the barriers men may face in disclosing abuse
Monitor outcome focused individual support plans with the service user.
Support the service user in minimising risk by undertaking formal risk assessments, and developing safety plans, tailored to each individuals current circumstances.
Assist with navigating systems such as benefits , legal processes, housing applications, healthcare and children's services where relevant
Ensure support is sensitive to the cultural, religious, and specific needs of the client group and their children.
Participate in the referral line inbox rota as required.
To engage and involve service users, in line with the service user engagement policy and strategy, identifying opportunities for involvement through a process of on-going consultation
Working with others
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to coordinate care and advocacy and support the delivery and development of quality services for male survivors of domestic violence and abuse
Advocate on behalf of male survivors of domestic violence and abuse with other agencies and services, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs understood
Develop and maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all Housing for Women staff, both locally and across the wider organisation
Support the Manager to induct volunteers in accordance with HfW policy and procedure and best practice.
Contribute to a team culture that is committed to delivering excellent results and continuous improvement.
Play an active role in service audit and reviews.
Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns in line with organisational policies and local safeguarding procedures - Working in conjunction with partner agencies and key stakeholders within safeguarding Child and Adult Protection Guidelines.
Act in a constructive and professional manner always, recognising the role is representing the organization. o Work as part of a team to educate and raise awareness in the community about domestic violence.
Actively participate in Housing for Women's performance management processes including regular supervision, reflective practice and development.
Attend regular supervisions, team meetings and relevant training to support professional development and good practice
Maintain professional boundaries and always safeguard the wellbeing of service users, recognising signs of risk and responding appropriately
