We are hiring for

Bank Mental Health Care Assistants

to join our team in

Bodmin,

providing safe and secure travel for patients across Cornwall who have significant mental health needs.

As part of the Mental Health Ambulance Crew, you'll ensure safe, compassionate journeys for patients (12+) with complex mental health needs. You'll drive and assist patients in a specially adapted non-emergency ambulance, supporting individuals who may be in distress or agitated.

Our ethos is trauma-informed, understanding that people with mental health problems are likely to have experienced some adversity in their lives and therefore they deserve to be treated with compassion, sensitivity, dignity and respect in their relationships with professionals.

What We're Looking For:



Compassionate people who can support patients with complex mental health needs during transport Calmness under pressure Ability to handle challenging situations and behaviours Commitment to maintaining confidentiality High standards in relation to infection prevention and control Willingness to drive and assist with non-emergency transport when needed Flexibility for shift work (7-day schedule across mids, afternoons, and evenings) Somebody who is physically fit and confident in their ability to enter into safe and secure holds with patients of all shapes and sizes

Desired Skills & Experience:



Experience with vulnerable individuals or those with mental health needs:

Previous experience working with people in challenging or vulnerable situations is beneficial but not essential.

Experience in secure or controlled environments:

If you've worked in settings like hospitals, care homes, or secure facilities, this would be an advantage.

Understanding of behaviour management:

Experience handling situations where individuals may show distress, agitation, or aggression is highly valued.

Safeguarding awareness and risk management:

Knowledge or experience in recognizing risks and understanding safeguarding principles will help ensure patient safety.

Excellent communication skills:

You must be able to communicate effectively with both patients and colleagues. Fluency in English is required.

Tech-savvy:

Basic competency with smartphones and computers is essential for completing clinical records and other digital tasks.

Over 25 years old:

Due to insurance requirements, applicants must be over 25 years of age.

Personal qualities:
