Beds RCC has been commissioned to provide Social Prescribing across the county, we are currently seeking to recruit a Mental Health Community Wellbeing Champions, working alongside colleagues from the VCSE and statutory sectors.
In partnership with East London Foundation Trust the successful post holder will work alongside colleagues in the Community Mental Health Team across Dunstable and Leighton Buzzard, as part of an established approach to support adults with serious mental illness.
The role
Beds RCC hosts Community Referral (Social Prescribing) on behalf of our Local Authorities and NHS partners, this role supports the service within Secondary Mental Health to work with patients who have a serious and enduring mental health condition. This service ensures that people with a range of non-medical needs affecting their health are cared for and included within their local communities, by connecting them with existing groups and activities, alongside a clinical intervention. You will work with other roles to form an MDT where patients are holistically triaged to enable them to access help. You will support service users to identify and achieve their goals by means of a simple support plan.
The role is initially offered on a 10 month contract (*subject to confirmation at time of interview). Provided that follow-on funding is confirmed and subject to a successful 10 months, we anticipate that the contract will be extended.
Who we are looking for
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a range of interpersonal, team working and problem solving skills, as well as a high level of IT literacy. You will have a strong commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable people, and will have previously helped people to address their life goals and needs.
You will be experienced in case load management and have the skills to prioritise your workload.
Recent experience of working with adults in our mental health services will be essential.
You will be able to 'hit the ground running' and be able to manage multiple priorities effectively within a fast moving environment. You will have a full driving licence and be prepared to work occasional weekends / evenings.
