Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mental health care, with experience in various clinical settings. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care to patients with mental health conditions, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities



Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Monitor patients' mental and physical health status, documenting changes accurately. Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and their families. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes. Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies. Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Participate in crisis intervention and management as needed. Engage in ongoing professional development and training to enhance nursing skills.

Requirements



Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Experience in behavioral health or mental health nursing is preferred. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and documentation standards. Skills in patient assessment, medication administration, IV insertion, and basic life support. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in memory care settings is a plus. Understanding of acute care practices including triage, pain management, and case management. Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team while maintaining patient confidentiality. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and staff. Candidates with experience in critical care environments such as ICU or emergency medicine, as well as those familiar with hospice & palliative medicine, geriatrics, or pediatric care will be highly regarded. Additional skills such as phlebotomy, catheterization, infection control practices, and knowledge of anatomy and physiology are beneficial.
