ABOUT US
Oxford Creators is an Alternative Education Provision that works alongside schools and the local authority. Our non-profit launched in 2022 and we have supported hundreds of disadvantaged children across Oxfordshire. We nurture 8-16 year olds through impactful mentoring and a bespoke package of wellbeing support, fitness sessions and digital skills.
Our mission is to ensure all students feel valued, included, and inspired to become the best version of themselves.
Many students at Oxford Creators are neurodiverse (ADHD / Autism), they may suffer from anxiety and/or have mental health issues. They do not attend school, are on a reduced timetable or are at risk of exclusion.
THE ROLE
Do you want to improve opportunities for children who have been excluded from school and have Special Educational Needs?
We are looking for a unique, creative, and empathetic individual that thinks outside the box.
You will develop and deliver therapy / counselling and emotional regulation strategies in an innovative way that will engage our children and improve their mental health. For many of our students, traditional approaches do not work, and they require a flexible delivery method which meets their individual needs.
To be successful in this role you will need:
A recognised qualification in a relevant discipline, such as psychology, counselling, psychotherapy (we will consider other qualifications if you're the right fit for our students, for example in social work or teaching)
Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties in a clinical, youth or educational setting
Knowledge and skills in applying a range of therapeutic modalities, such as CBT, DBT, Emotional Regulation (e.g. deep breathing techniques and zones of regulation)
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
A commitment to safeguarding and continuous learning
A high level of enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality, therapeutic interventions and mental health support to children and their families
Experience in identifying and meeting the mental health needs of children
Experience of working under pressure
To have the skill to adapt and the flexibility to think on your feet due to the nature of your role
