is a respected children and youth health and social inclusion agency, working across Tower Hamlets. DO works in partnership with CAMHS, education, social care, and community services to support children, young people, and families with complex needs by providing therapy and evidenced based parenting interventions.
As part of the CYP Psychological Training (formerly CYP-IAPT),
we are looking to
recruit 2 trainees
who are dedicated and enthusiastic about improving services for children and young people, while supporting us to deliver evidenced based interventions.
1 x Parent Training for Conduct Disorder
1 x CBT for Low Mood and Anxiety Disorders
The 2 trainees will be employed
on a full-time basis and undertake training for a post-graduate diploma - a PgDip in CYP IAPT Therapy, at King's College London (KCL).
While undertaking training (1 year full-time) it is anticipated that the trainees will attend teaching days at least twice a week. The remaining 3 days will be used for supervision, study and therapeutic clinical work based at DO. Trainees will be offered at least 1 hour of clinical supervision per week as well as monthly management supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Fulfilling the requirements of and completing a PG Diploma at King's College London including practical, academic, and practice-based assessments, alongside private study.
Capability to complete academic work at post graduate level.
Apply learning from the training programme in practice.
Assess clients for suitability for the treatment for which training is provided and deliver outcome focused, evidenced based interventions to children and young people.
Formulate, implement, and evaluate therapy programmes for children and young people.
Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
Personal Specification/Qualification:
Psychology or other health, counselling, social care, youth related undergraduate degree.
For the CBT trainee position,
1 years' minimum experience working with children/young people in a mental health setting therapeutically, OR, have at least 2 years' experience working with children/young people in a mental health setting.
For the Parent trainee position,
2 years' experience of working within a professional setting concerned with the mental health, development and wellbeing of children and young people or families or experience of working in a primary school.
Local knowledge of Tower Hamlets and its diverse range of cultures and ethnic groups is desirable. As these are post-graduate courses you will need to evidence your ability to study at post graduate level. Successful candidates must be able to commence employment and start their training courses by 19th January 2026.
Trainee Starting Salary:
27,500 (inclusive of London Weighting), 35 hours per week inclusive of training days.
24 Months Fixed Term Contract, with the aim of extending to a further 1 year subject to securing funding.
Note:
Salary range is based on Voluntary Sector rates, not as NHS Trusts. We welcome applicants without a core profession and offer a 24-month contract instead of 12. Salary will increase after successful completion of training and associated work requirements.
