EIP Suffolk are currently offering a full time opportunity for a Band 6 AfC Mental Health Practitioner to join our specialist team in East Suffolk.



Previous experience of working with Psychosis within a community setting would be advantageous but not essential.

As a practitioner you will be able to demonstrate a warm, compassionate and needs-led approach to working with our service users and their families. The role includes multi-agency working alongside the family, local acute care services, primary care sector, social care, education, employment and voluntary services to ensure the service users needs are best met.


Main duties of the job




As part of this team, responsibilities would include undertaking assessments of individuals who are experiencing a First Episode of Psychosis, working collaboratively with their families and other supporting agencies to effectively address needs utilising the National Mental Health Framework to manage an assigned community caseload.



Alongside our experienced team you will deliver bespoke and timely interventions to our service users, aged 14 - 65 years, and their families in line with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence Quality Standards for Early Intervention Services.



EIP Suffolk offers regular clinical and management supervision with an emphasis on reflective practice both as 1:1 and group sessions. We hold a strong belief in team and individual development. We will offer you a full EIP induction program and have extensive training and career development that can be accessed across our Trust.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities




To act as Lead Professional to an assigned community caseload. To develop collaborative care and support plans with service users and / their families.



To ensure care and support plans are reviewed by the treating team on a regular basis - to include patient voice through completion of routine outcome measures for both EIP and our Trust.



To work alongside colleagues to ensure treatment / support interventions are delivered in a timely fashion to service users and their families / Carers.



To work alongside colleagues to maintain our National 2 week access and waiting time standard. To engage with service duty system rota as assigned.



To ensure completion of complex assessments inclusive of risk assessment and management plans.



To engage with psychologically focused formulation (5 P's) and plan / deliver Brief Psychological Interventions as part of a structured therapy programme.



To engage and contribute to all team / service clinical meetings - weekly MDT; team formulation; morning huddles.



To engage with all supervision forums as available : Managerial supervision on a monthly basis; Clinical supervision groups on a monthly basis; Team reflective practice on a monthly basis.



To engage with and contribute to EIP Suffolk service developments, quality improvement projects and evaluation.



To engage with research projects that maybe available across EIP Suffolk; the Trust or National EIP community.

Qualifications




Essential criteria




Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Occupational Therapist OR Social Worker with the relevant professional registration Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor training (NMC registrants) or Practice Educator (AHP & Social Worker Registrants) Ongoing professional development working towards degree level ( if professional registration is following a diploma level course)

Desirable criteria




Recognised Leadership/Management training Higher degree or post graduate certificate in area of clinical / therapeutic practice #

Experience




Essential criteria




Able to demonstrate an appropriate level of knowledge of mental health practice from previous experience Demonstrate significant experience of completing complex clinical assessments including effective risk assessment and risk management experience Significant experience of MDT working including experience in the delivery of clinical interventions

Desirable criteria




Experience in supporting service development and quality improvement initiatives Experience working in the specific area Experience of working with families / young people / Dual Diagnosis cohorts #

Knowledge




Essential criteria




An understanding of the policies and guidelines both local and national e.g. National Institute for Clinical Excellence guidelines (Government initiative) Up to date knowledge of legal and ethical frameworks including Mental Health Act. Have the ability to discuss, identify and escalate safeguarding issues in a sensitive way to protect those who are vulnerable Proven ability clinical assessment tools and outcome measures effectively and collaboratively

Knowledge of medication and the monitoring of its effects
