The ideal person for this role will have a passion to see people develop skills and change their lives for the better. You will need strong people skills, and be able to show patience and understanding whilst maintaining good professional boundaries. You'll be part of a team, so good communication is key. You'll also need to be self-motivated and confident working independently. Having a flexible and adaptable attitude is crucial, because the needs of those we work with can change quickly. A good level of emotional resilience is definitely an asset, and a non-judgemental approach to mental health, recovery, and relapse.

OATS (Open Access Therapeutic Support)
OATS is a peer-led support group offering a safe space for adults who experience
complex emotional needs. It's designed around trust, honesty and shared experience,
and the group is facilitated by trained professionals and volunteers with lived
experience. The service focuses on enabling people to express themselves, build
emotional resilience, and reduce isolation. The group is open and built on principles of
trauma-informed care. It is led and attended by those who may struggle regulating their
emotions, coming together to share experiences and provide support in their
community. Working in this team involves holding space for big emotions while
consistently modelling hope and calm.
Title of Role- OATS Support Worker
Purpose of Role
To enable people to become the best version of themselves by facilitating a peer-led therapeutic space where the group members help each other improve their emotional coping skills using trauma-informed approaches. The role broadly involves being in administrative role and facilitator role
Main Activities/Tasks
? To have an understanding of mental health
? To assist with maintaining a clean and tidy environment
? To support and engage with the wider CEN team in administration - back office work. This may include any day to day needs and concerns, being a part of debriefing and supporting the team of facilitators
? To ensure all tasks regarding registration of members, buddying appointments, and other necessary communications/notes have been actioned during shift
? To support and engage with the wider team in the role of facilitator to facilitate the group sessions
? To attend all supervisions to be able to facilitate the group sessions as per the model
? To be able to communicate well, and be able to work flexibly with a large team
? To manage the environment, including dealing with any challenging behaviour as per the guidelines of OATS therapy model and KFT policies
? To work with the OATS Lead within their direction of leadership
? To attend training and regular professional development
? To take personal responsibility for understanding and applying safeguarding processes in all relevant situations
? To work with the Senior Leadership team
? To work within the policies and procedures of Kingfisher Treasure Seekers
? To promote Kingfisher Treasure Seekers and its work
? Any other duties as required
Hours 6 hours per week - includes possible 2 hours of supervision as overtime
Currently the shifts are on Mondays, Wednesdays and
Fridays 12.15pm to 3.15pm excluding Bank Holidays.
