We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join the Mental Health team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. HMP Wymott has capacity of around 1,100, and has a varied and complex population.
This is a fantastic, brand new opportunity to work on the wings, looking after mental health patients. This role is new to our service, and is joining the mental health team of around 15.
No 2 days are the same in this challenging, yet rewarding and supportive environment.
Hours:
This is a full time role, 37.5 hours per week, working Monday to Friday, 8am - 4pm / 9am - 5pm.
Salary:
This position is full time , you'll receive an annual salary of 24,669 - 28,690 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing
As our new Mental Health Support Worker, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
Work with mental health patients across the wings, looking after patients with severe mental health issues, personality disorders etc
Carry out physical health checks - bloods, physical obs, ECGs, weight checks etc
Be a key part of the nursing team - assisting nurses and reporting back on findings and assessments
Ensure continuity of care for all patients, and deliver outstanding care at all times
Contribute to, and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics

Our new Mental Health Support Worker will: Hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
Have experience within a mental health environment
Have knowledge of mental health issues
Have experience of ECGs and bloods, or be willing to undertake this training
Any experience in a prison / secure setting or hospital would be a bonus!
