Welcome to Avondalecare residential care home, a local experienced care service supporting people living with mental health, learning difficulties and a range of care needs where personal care support is required. We do not offer nursing care.

When our residents struggle with their mental health they require counsel support from you, they require a genuinely kind and compassionate person to listen to their struggles and find solutions and help with creative coping strategies.

Job Title: Care Home Mental Health Support Worker



Hours:

Permanent Full time 40hrs per week including Bank Holidays. flexible working rota.

Pay:

21.21 to 12.50 depending on experience

Accountable to: Senior key workers

Role:

To support up to 8 individuals living in a home in Westgate on sea as part of a team of 8 staff. You will be a pivotal part of their personal development and building resilience and life skills to become independent.

This role is specific to our Westgate on Sea care home. If you can travel to this area comfortably please apply.

Drivers are desirable but not a requirement, the company pays business mileage for the use of your own care including driver perks. Business insurance can be paid by the company to enable you to use your car for the support of the residents.

There is easy access and free parking on site.

Public Travel routes are good to the care home.

Duties:

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will be responsible for supporting people with managing their mental health, you could be working with people with mild Learning Disabilities or autistic traits. Although you will be vital help for supporting people with their everyday activities this excludes nursing care. You will be relied upon to assist in building trusting relationships and have good rapport to be able to support people to reach their full potential and work towards planning outcomes for moving on in the future at their own pace. You will be expected to manage some administration duties including, daily reports and evidencing practice.

You will be working in a small home in the sunny seaside town of Westgate, being part of a support network to those living safely in their community. You will have a staff office and a staff room to be able to work alone when you choose to and to reduce stress at work when you need it. You will work directly with senior key workers and management based on site every day.

You will be recognised as a valued member of our team and will be treated fairly and with respect, you will be trained and supported form the start to ensure you understand risk management, care plans and the best and safest way to carry out your duties. You will be a part of a wider communication network amongst all staff for regular help and support throughout each day.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will work in partnership with local organisations including Community Mental Health Teams, Social Services, Probation and Court services, HMRC, GP Surgeries, LD teams and other outside agencies who are there to offer our service users the support they deserve.

7 day working rota but very flexible and supportive, working to create a work life balance for all staff.

3 days a week off. plus available overtime of you choose.

10 hour shift patterns.

Skills and Experience



Full driving Licence and car is desirable*
A genuine interest in working with and supporting people Experience with Mental Health and supporting or caring for someone would be a great attribute to the team. Experience of working with challenging behaviour or learning diasilities would be exceptional for this role but if not, training is provided if your willing to learn. Do you have a Kind and Caring nature. Are you a practical thinker. And able to be solution focused not problem bogged. Must be flexible in your approach to all situations and to the care sector demands. An understanding of the importance of Equality and Diversity and treating people with dignity and respect. Understand the benefits of positive attitude and culture in the work place Good literacy and communication skills computer and i phone literate Interest in developing your own practice and plan for a future career Honest and reliable person trustworthy and dedicated to compassionate care Understanding the importance of confidentiality Ability to work independently and part of a team Able to commit to shift patterns incl. at least 1 wake night shift per week
