Teaching Assistant (SEMH) - Horley

Location: Horley, Surrey


Hours: 08:30 AM - 03:30 PM, Monday to Friday, Term Time Only


Start Date: ASAP


Salary: 89 per day PAYE, temp to perm


We're looking for a caring and resilient Teaching Assistant to join our SEMH provision in Horley. If you're passionate about supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs and thrive in a busy, rewarding environment, we'd love to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities:


o Support small groups and individual pupils with SEMH needs, implementing personalised strategies.


o Promote positive behaviour through consistent, calm approaches and de-escalation techniques.


o Assist class teachers in planning and delivering differentiated activities.


o Support pupils' emotional regulation and social skills through therapeutic and tailored interventions.


o Record and report progress, liaising with teaching staff and SENCO where appropriate.





Skills & Experience / What We're Looking For:


o Empathy, patience and resilience when working with challenging behaviour.


o Good communication and rapport-building skills with pupils and staff.


o Ability to follow behaviour plans and adapt strategies in the moment.


o Knowledge of safeguarding and a commitment to child welfare.


o Transferable skills: active listening, teamwork, organisation, consistency, problem-solving.

o Training and ongoing support provided.


o Small class sizes with additional TA support.
