We are seeking a Paralegal to join our team in providing support to our firm, based in our Hinckley office. The successful candidate will assist in various tasks related to Court of Protection and mental health tribunal work.
The role will suit motivated, organised individuals. You must hold either a degree in law or graduate diploma in law, or alternatively have previous experience as a paralegal.
Experience in a similar role would be an advantage but is not essential.
You should have a keen interest in representation of vulnerable people with mental health difficulties; and the willingness and ability to communicate patiently, effectively and empathetically with our clients, who may be unwell and distressed.
You must be committed to legal aid work and the nature of the work that we do; protecting the rights of some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Duties
-File opening and client care procedures
-Attending clients both in person and on the telephone/online and to provide such support in a professional and friendly manner in keeping with the firm's standards
- Draft legal documents, including statements and letters
- Assist in case preparation by organising and maintaining legal files, time recording
- Liaise with clients, barristers, and tribunal/court personnel
- Manage correspondence and communicate effectively on behalf of the firm
- Provide administrative support to solicitors as required
Requirements
- Law degree essential. Legal practice course desirable.
- 6 GCSEs A-C grade. 3 A-LEVELS or equivalent.
- Driving licence essential and access to car
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Strong IT skills to handle electronic filing systems
- Exceptional time management abilities to meet deadlines efficiently
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Previous experience working in a legal environment is desirable but not essential
