Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated, passionate person to join our team at Growing Together Education cic as a learning mentor for adults with SEND to start the role as soon as possible.

As a Mentor at Growing Together Education CIC

,

you will provide essential support to adults with a range of emotional, social, and educational needs. Safeguarding the learners is a core value of Growing Together Education CIC.

You will help a fantastic core group of individuals to build confidence, improve social skills, and build on their life skills. Through building strong relationships, you'll gain a deeper understanding of their day-to-day experiences and offer guidance to support them in engaging with positive activities. You will work alongside the staff, volunteers and SEND adults who make up our Growing Together team on the farm and in the gardens, supporting the running and care of the animals, farm and activities that we provide.

Our services enable people to access the therapeutic benefits that the outdoor environment and working with animals, plants and nature has to offer with experienced and caring staff. We provide the opportunity to experience meaningful activities, including gaining qualifications to enter the world of employment or volunteering if desired, and gain valuable life skills for independent living, enriching lives to enable people of all abilities to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:



Work as part of a small team with a core group of adults. You will help plan projects, facilitate the learners in completing the projects and offer help with each learner's individual journey and needs. You will assist in facilitating learning through outdoor activities on the farm, within the garden centre and also within a classroom setting. You will play a vital role in mentoring, supporting, and inspiring our learners to reach their individual goals and dreams . Ability to become part of a team, understanding our inclusive working environment and to help develop the organisation and its services. You will be creative in planning interesting and useful sessions which consider different abilities and safeguard the learners at all times. There needs to be an understanding of safe working, ability to comply with policies, legislation and procedures. To have a full commitment to safeguarding, GDPR and confidentiality.

Qualifications & Skills:



To be considered for this role, you should have:

Experience

: At least 1 year experience working either with SEND Adults within a similar role or school/ education environment.

Training :


Safeguarding training/ knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

First Aid Training preferable.

Willingness to undertake any training, professional development and reviews relevant to the role.

Personal Qualities

: Empathy, compassion, patience,respectful and a proactive attitude toward supporting adults with diverse needs. Must be able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Communication Skills

: Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively as part of a team.

Adaptability

: A flexible approach to meet the individual needs of each student.

Mentoring Experience

: A strong understanding of managing and mentoring adults with SEN.

DBS

: Enhanced DBS on the update system (or willingness to apply for a new DBS if required).

Right to Work

: The legal right to work in the UK.

Insurance

: Business Insurance is a requirement for this role.

Driving Licence:

A full UK driving licence is a requirement for this role.
