Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality, person-centred mentoring sessions to young people with
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)
needs and/or
Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
.
You will support them to achieve educational and developmental outcomes through 1:1 and small-group sessions at our Stafford centre.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver structured mentoring sessions aligned with each young person's Individual Learning Plan (ILP).
Promote engagement, attendance, and participation in all aspects of learning and development.
Support young people to develop resilience, self-regulation, and positive behaviour strategies.
Build trusting relationships with young people, parents/carers, and professionals.
Maintain accurate records of sessions and progress.
Work collaboratively with the wider team to review progress every half term.
Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns in line with company policy.
Contribute to the overall positive culture and ethos of the Stafford centre.
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience working with young people (preferably those with SEMH or SEND needs).
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and engage.
Empathetic, patient, and consistent approach.
Ability to maintain professional boundaries.
Basic IT literacy (for reporting and planning).
A genuine passion for improving the lives of young people.
Desirable:
Relevant qualification in youth work, children and young people, family support, education, mentoring, or a related field.
Experience within an alternative provision, residential children's homes, school, pupil referral unit (PRU), or childrens support setting.
Full UK driving licence and access to transport.
