Excellent opportunity for ongoing permanent positions across UK retail & commercial projects for the right candidate
Fit Out UK is a leading specialist contractor delivering high-quality interior fit-outs, refurbishments, and new build projects across the UK. We are currently progressing a state-of-the-art commercial development in Doncaster -- a modern warehouse facility with integrated office space -- and require an experienced
M&E / MEP Foreman
to lead the on-site delivery of our full mechanical and electrical package.
The Role
We need a hands-on, experienced M&E / MEP Foreman to supervise and coordinate the installation, testing, and commissioning of all mechanical and electrical services on this new build commercial project. The scope (designed and installed by Fit Out UK) includes mechanical systems (ventilation, air conditioning, drainage, and domestic services) and electrical systems (lighting, distribution boards, small power, and solar PV).
This is a fast-paced, high-profile site with a short initial commitment of around 2 months -- ideal for someone seeking immediate work with strong prospects for long-term, permanent opportunities nationwide in retail, commercial, and logistics sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise M&E subcontractors and teams in the safe, accurate installation, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, plumbing, drainage, lighting, power distribution, and solar systems.
Coordinate daily M&E activities with other trades to ensure smooth progress and avoid clashes/programme delays.
Review technical drawings, specifications, and RAMS; induct subcontractors and enforce compliance with health & safety, quality standards, building regulations, and client requirements.
Monitor progress, maintain daily records, and provide clear updates to the Project Manager (including via SAP or similar systems).
Identify and resolve technical or site issues quickly to keep the programme on track.
Ensure high standards of workmanship, safety, and cleanliness throughout the M&E works.
Grow into greater site responsibility over time, with initial close support from the project team (Graham and PMs).
Requirements
Proven track record as an M&E / MEP Foreman (or similar supervisory role) on commercial, industrial, or new build projects.
Solid practical understanding of mechanical services (ventilation/AC, drainage, domestics) and electrical services (lighting, distribution boards, solar).
Relevant qualifications/certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical/Electrical, SMSTS, SSSTS, CSCS card, or equivalent).
Ability to read and interpret M&E drawings, schematics, and specifications.
Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing subcontractors effectively.
Knowledge of current health & safety regulations, CDM, and best practices.
Familiarity with basic project reporting tools (SAP experience advantageous but not essential).
Flexible and willing to travel for future projects across the UK after this Doncaster role.
Team player comfortable with initial guidance during mobilisation, then stepping up to independent site leadership.
No need to be a specialist in every trade -- we value strong M&E coordination, practical site experience, and reliability.
What We Offer
Competitive day rate / salary (negotiable based on experience).
Initial 2-month contract with strong potential to transition to permanent employment.
Opportunity to join a reputable contractor delivering exciting retail, commercial, and logistics projects nationwide.
Supportive environment with close communication during startup and genuine career progression.
