UK e-commerce brand
is seeking a
Merchandiser
to support and optimise the commercial performance of a core product portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a data-driven merchandising professional to step into a role with real ownership, influence and cross-functional exposure.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in shaping trading decisions through insight-led forecasting, stock planning and performance analysis. The role sits within the Trading & Product function and partners closely with Marketing, Supply Chain and Technical teams to deliver commercial objectives.
The role
Reporting to the
Head of Trading & Product
, you'll be responsible for driving sales, margin and stock performance across assigned product ranges. You'll bring together analytical rigour and commercial awareness to optimise trading outcomes, support new product launches and manage product lifecycles.
This is a highly collaborative role offering strong visibility across the business and the opportunity to influence strategic trading decisions.
Key responsibilities
Trading & performance
Lead weekly trade reviews, delivering clear insights and actionable recommendations.
Analyse weekly, monthly and seasonal trading performance to identify risks, opportunities and repeat-order requirements.
Forecast sales using historical data, promotional plans and market trends.
Support delivery of sales, margin and stock KPIs across assigned ranges.
Stock optimisation
Monitor and manage stock levels to maximise availability while minimising overstock.
Support in-season and pre-season
OTB planning
through effective WSSI management.
Collaborate closely with Supply Chain and Warehouse teams to ensure smooth stock flow and timely deliveries.
Pricing & range optimisation
Drive pricing and promotional strategy through margin analysis and competitor benchmarking.
Provide commercial insight to inform range planning, assortment decisions and sell-through optimisation.
Coordinate product phase-in and phase-out activity alongside Product and Marketing teams.
Track competitor activity and market trends to inform wider trading decisions.
Collaboration & continuous improvement
Support the execution of commercial strategies with senior trading leadership.
Work cross-functionally to align trading activity with wider business initiatives.
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of merchandising systems, reporting and processes.
About you
Experience
2-3 years' experience in a
Junior Merchandiser or Merchandiser
role within retail or e-commerce.
Proven experience managing product ranges with
5m-20m+ turnover
.
Exposure to fitness, sports equipment, consumer electronics or home/lifestyle categories is advantageous but not essential.
Analytical & technical skills
Highly numerate with strong attention to detail.
Advanced Excel skills
(pivot tables, lookups, IF statements, scenario modelling).
Confident handling large data sets for forecasting, stock analysis and reporting.
Able to turn data into clear, commercially sound recommendations.
Experience contributing to monthly trade packs and post-trade analysis.
Commercial mindset
Solid understanding of merchandising principles including
OTB, WSSI, sell-through, markdown and margin optimisation
.
Ability to balance product availability with stock efficiency.
Awareness of seasonality, promotional cycles and operational factors such as shipping lead times.
