This role is a great opportunity to work across a number of our different sites and develop your skills and knowledge support all maintenance based building services. Our Portsmouth site has supporting testing and combat systems for the Royal Navy for over 45 years, with a newly opened National Maritime Systems Centre.

The role

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary, delivering of maintenance across all aspects of building services, you will have strong knowledge of building systems across all disciplines with a key competency in either electrical or mechanical maintenance. You will also be expected to support some of our other local sites when needed, gaining more experience and development.

Day-to-day, you\'ll be responsible for all mobile call outs for pre-planned and reactive maintenance tasks and objectives. You will be mostly supporting infrastructure, but other needs in our Gosport site will vary. Below are some more Responsibilities:

  • Provide maintenance support (including installations; planned, preventive & corrective maintenance) in relation to site services, plant / equipment & buildings
  • being responsible and reliable for all mobile maintenance call outs including other local sites
  • See that all Health & Safety requirements are met for individual sites
  • Being able to think on your feet, as all call outs vary so must be ready to come with a solution
The working hours for this role are 7:30am - 4:30pm Monday - Thursday with a 12pm finish on a friday

Essential experience of the Mechanical Engineer
  • Must have had experience in a commercial maintenance capacity
  • Will have worked as part of a team on a rota before and understand responsibilities
  • Experience with Pluming or carpentry is desirable
  • Someone who is looking for a varied role and has a varied amount of experience
Qualifications for the Mechanical Engineer
  • Engineering / Technical qualification: Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (in a relevant discipline electrical or mechanical) and hold the appropriate conversion
  • Good knowledge and level of competency in other areas of building services (BMS, electrical or mechanical services)
  • Full UK Driving Licence
