Doctors Direct have an exciting opportunity for a Microbiology Consultant to work with us at

East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.

Our client is looking for dedicated doctors ready to work in a world-renowned centre of clinical excellence.

Duties:



Diagnostic Microbiology:

Oversee the performance and interpretation of microbiological tests, including culture, molecular, and serological assays, to identify pathogens and antimicrobial susceptibilities.

Infectious Disease Consultation:

Provide expert consultation to clinical teams on the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases, including antibiotic therapy recommendations and infection control strategies.

Laboratory Management:

Lead and manage the microbiology laboratory, ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Research and Development:

Engage in research activities, including clinical studies, to advance the understanding of infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and diagnostic techniques.

Teaching and Training:

Educate and mentor medical students, residents, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals in microbiology and infectious disease topics.

Quality Assurance:

Implement and monitor quality control measures to maintain the accuracy and reliability of microbiological testing.

Antimicrobial Stewardship:

Collaborate with the antimicrobial stewardship committee to optimize antibiotic use, reduce resistance, and enhance patient outcomes.

Outreach and Education:

Contribute to public health efforts by providing education and guidance on infectious disease prevention and control in the community.

Skills:



Board certification or eligibility in Acute Medicine. Strong Clinical Skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well under pressure.

Requirements:



6 months NHS experience Valid GMC registration Right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship)

Pay: 100.00-175.00 per hour ( Negotiable dependent on experience )
