About the Role



Mid-day Meal Supervisor (temporary, at least until July 2026) - Bramber Primary - Worthing

Bramber Primary School is a one-form entry, friendly and nurturing primary school with 208 children on roll. An exciting opportunity exists for a mid-day meal supervisor to join our well-established team. You will play an important part in our team supporting pupils, during the lunch hour.



The successful candidate will work as part of a team to support positive pupil behaviour and lead engaging play activities during the midday break. Responsibilities include supervising playground activities in all weather conditions (appropriate clothing required) and overseeing pupils while they eat. The role involves ensuring the health, safety, welfare, good conduct, and safeguarding of all pupils, with consideration for those with special or additional needs.



The successful candidate will also be expected to report any incidents in accordance with school policy.


Individuals in this role may also undertake some or all of the following:




Assist in the supervision of other activities during the midday break, including setting out and storing equipment. Clean up spillages of food or liquid during meal service. Wipe down tables and clean dining areas between meals. Sweep up after food has been served. Supervise children playing before or after their lunch.

What You Need to Succeed



To be successful in this role you will need to:


Supervise pupils in the dining area, playground and classrooms (wet play). Encourage pupils to eat their lunch and monitor those who don't, reporting any concerns to an appropriate adult. Monitor pupils that aren't engaging in play and feedback any concerns to class teachers. Set up and put away the tables, chairs and other equipment needed for eating in the lunch area. Manage pupils' entrance and exit from the lunch area in an orderly manner. Clean the hall (wipe tables, put tables away and sweep the floor). Observe pupils and the environment and take action to minimise any identified health and safety risks. Deliver first aid. If not first aid trained, refer incidents to a qualified first aider. Record and communicate details of incidents in line with the school reporting procedures. Feedback concerns relating to pupils' health and safety to a senior member of staff. Be aware of and support pupils with medical/dietary needs. Promote the school's policy around healthy eating to pupils. Record and communicate details of anti-social behaviour incidents in line school reporting procedures. Report any incidents of serious anti-social behaviour to the relevant staff member, in line with the School Wellbeing, relationships and self-regulation (Behaviour) Policy. Take necessary action to minimise disruption and harm to pupils, in line with the School Wellbeing, relationships and self-regulation (Behaviour) Policy. Make sure children tidy up after themselves in the lunch area and when using play resources/equipment. Follow any directions from class teachers on supporting specific pupils with challenging behaviour. Organise play activities to encourage pupils to play and make use of play equipment. Take on a play leader role. To receive new staff induction training in line with the school's policy. To receive appropriate training, as applicable, for all duties which are required within this job description. To receive the support from the class teacher and SLT (senior leadership team) and to work as a valued part of our whole school team.
