Job Description

Role purpose



Being part of the Sales/Commercial Team, in the role of Designer, you will play a key role in supporting the technical, sales and commercial teams with customer project requirements/targets. You will build effective relationships with customers and design houses, working in collaboration with them in all associated projects, meeting time and price expectations and exceeding customer expectation. You will display a safety first, "best in class" technical expertise, engaging with cross functional teams, helping with an environment that supports the exploration of continuous improvement that ensures we meet our manufacturing and sustainability ambitions.

Coupled with supporting a strong people first culture, success will require close collaboration with Innovations team, Operations, Sales, Account Management and Commercial Teams. You will also assist in providing when and where necessary technical expertise to support the pursuit of innovative and profitable new business.

Key accountabilities



Ensure that you operate in accordance with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors. Ensure new design offerings are in line with customer specifications and can be produced to a consistent quality with all associated knowledge transferred before releasing for full scale production. Support sales team when required to harvest strong relationships with customers and design houses Manage design/colour sample requests from design houses and customers Digital print, embossing and effects sample processing. Creation of story boards and presentations. Deliver all projects in agreed time scales to the correct standard and within time scales. When appropriate, partner with the Innovation, process development and operations teams on new products and developments Support and provide expertise to support various areas within the company as and when required. Keep abreast of relevant industry and material trends to feed back into current projects. Anticipate, identify, and resolve issues that pose a risk to safety, quality, performance or profit. Be part of the strategic plan process and deliver on the longer-term product development goals. Complete all required reporting within established timeframe, present information in a concise manner. Flexibility to travel in the UK and abroad between manufacturing, customer and supplier sites when required.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications



Appropriate design, or associated qualification. Proven track record of delivering against design briefs and customer requirements. Capable of taking a concept through to realisation Experience with setting up and using digital printing equipment Good communicator at all levels, both written and verbal. Has ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and customers both internal and external. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements. Understands company strategy regarding targets and expectations. Demonstrable influencing skills at peer level resulting in excellent cross functional working practices. Program and project management skills Desired minimum of 5 years' experience working within Design and or other related technical disciplines.
