YZUP at WithYou is the commissioned Young Persons Drug and Alcohol Service for 11-18 year olds across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We have one vacancy for a Term-Time Only post of Mind and Body (MAB) Practitioner to cover the whole of Cornwall. Funded by Cornwall Integrated Care Board, the programme has been delivered in Cornwall since 2016. Mind and Body is an innovative programme supporting young people aged 14-17, who are involved in, or may be vulnerable to, self-harming behaviours. The programme helps young people to explore and better manage the thoughts and actions associated with self-harm and has achieved exceptional outcomes since its launch.



As an organisation we do not have a sponsorship license and are unable to provide sponsorship to live and work in the UK. As such candidates are required to hold the

right to work in the UK

for the duration of the contract you are applying for.





About the role



You will be expected to:



undertake training of the Mind & Body Programme from September 2025

liaise with schools to enable them to host a MAB programme including the setting up of an SLA and begin delivery in October/November 2025

deliver 20 minute whole year assemblies within a secondary school setting - introducing the subject of mental health and introduction of the MAB programme

deliver a combination of individual and therapeutic group interventions with young people, most commonly in a secondary school setting

employ a motivational interviewing approach in conjunction with other therapeutic techniques to elicit attitudinal and behavioural changes in participants

maintain accurate and up to date records of all delivery


Please note that this is a 12-month fixed term contract with the potential to extend based on the organisation's needs. The advertised salary will be pro rata.

Essential Skills



To carry out this role successfully, you will:



have OCN/NVQ level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months

be an experienced professional in youth work, mental health or social work but who has additional knowledge of mental health issues affecting YP

knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users

be highly organised and practical with proven IT skills

presentation skills

be proactive and enthusiastic with excellent communication skills

have proven experience of working with young people presenting with complex needs

be able to engage well with YP

be able to work on your own

have proven one to one and group work skills with YP

have a good understanding of the safeguarding process

thorough and up to date knowledge of child and adolescent development, mental wellbeing and self harming behaviours

be experienced in effective partnership working with other agencies

proven ability to carry out comprehensive assessments, assess risk, devise care plans and deliver evidence based interventions

able to visit other locations in order to deliver the services required; use of car for business purposes required
