Position: Minibus Driver

Hours: 7hrs per week with potential overtime (usual hours 9am-10.45am and 2.15pm-4pm Thursday and Friday)

Pay: 12.73 per hour

Pension: 5% Employers contribution.

Annual Leave: 32 days annual leave, increasing to 37 days in year two of employment.

Location: The Broomhouse Hub, EH11 3RH

Term: Permanent

License: Category D1 license essential

The Role:

We are seeking a minibus driver to join our team to ensure the safe collection and drop off of our Beacon Club members on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Beacon Club is a day service for people with dementia and mild to moderate cognitive impairment. Members attending our club benefit from stimulating activities, conversation, games and lunch.

The minibus driver, along with a Beacon Club team mate, will journey from The Broomhouse Hub to collect our members from their homes in South West Edinburgh in the morning between 9am - 10.45am, and bring them to the club.

In the afternoon the minibus driver, accompanied by a Beacon Club team mate, will return the members to their homes between 2.15pm - 4pm, ensuring they have a safe and comfortable journey in both directions, then return the minibus to The Hub.

The driver may be required to assist members to get on and off the bus safely, including assisting people who have wheelchairs. Manual handling training will be provided.

The standard working hours will be 9am - 10.45am and 2.15pm - 4pm on Thursday and Friday. However there is scope for additional hours to support our other projects.

The following skills and attributes are essential for this role:

Hold a category D1 license Be aged 25yrs or over due to insurance restrictions Have experience of driving a large vehicle (at least transit van sized) Be a confident and considerate driver Be able to commit to the hours stated above Have a friendly, chatty and patient manner Be trustworthy, reliable and punctual Be able to confidently converse in English and understand written English Have the physical mobility to assist people with mobility challenges to get into and get out of the minibus, including being able to push wheelchairs.
