Tenterden Social Hub & Dementia Centre has been supporting our community and rural areas for over 60 years, providing a safe and welcoming environment for elderly, disabled and vulnerable adults from 18 to 101 years of age. We strive to ensure that individuals can continue to remain connected to their community, as independent as possible and at home where they want to be.

Driver

We need an empathetic and enthusiastic Driver to be part of our small team, providing assistance and support to our members who are elderly, disabled and may have dementia.

Our new Driver will be someone who has experience working with adults who have a range of disabilities.

This appointment is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

The successful candidate must hold a current driving license, with D1 classification, and be willing to drive our Minibuses & VW Caddies.

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PART-TIME DRIVER

Reporting to:

Admin Support Manager

Hours of Work:

7.5 hours per week

Tuesday, Wednesday (pm) & Friday, 8.30-10:00 am & 2:30-4.00pm

(There may be an occasional requirement to work outside of these times for transport for trips)

Job Overview

Tenterden Social Hub exists to provide a purposeful day for adults with both physical and/or learning disabilities, the elderly and those with the early stages of Dementia,

The role of the Driver is to transport members from home to the Hub in the morning and then take them home in the afternoon:

Main Duties

Under the direction and supervision of the Line Manager:

Use the organisation's vehicles to transport the members in a safe and comfortable manner between their homes and the Hub, assisted by the Passenger Assistant, according to the daily pick-up list To be responsible for safely and efficiently operating the minibus equipment e.g. tail lift operation and clamping of wheelchairs To be responsible for supervising the safe transportation of service users' personal property including wheelchairs, bags, coats etc. To be responsible for carrying out daily routine vehicle checks and completing the necessary Driver Checklist, records/log sheets on the minibus operation as required by the Administrative Support Manager (ASM) To be responsible for informing the ASM of any non-routine matters such as breakdowns, accidents and breakages To be responsible for the refuelling of vehicles plus cleanliness of the vehicles inside and out To inform the Hub's Support Services Manager of any information regarding the welfare or wellbeing of the service users gained during the performance of these duties To be responsible for completing accident/incident forms and other relevant information on the day of its occurrence and inform the relevant staff

Person Specification

ATTRIBUTES

Essential

Experience as a minibus driver with D1 requirement on their licence

Completed or a willingness to undertake Kent County Council driver training

A sensitive, empathetic and caring approach to the Members with a cheerful approachable demeanor and good communication skills

Honest and trustworthy, recognising the need for confidentiality whilst recognising the need to disclose information to the appropriate staff to ensure the wellbeing and safety of Members

Self-motivated and enthusiastic team worker with good organisational skills and time keeping

Current Driving Licence with D1
