About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Vulnerable Adolescent Service and work with children and young people who are missing from home and missing from care.
This vacancy is in our complex safeguarding team, SHINE. You will have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with children and young people through completing their return home interviews and you will support in engaging with parents/carers, partners and communities to develop interventions that meet the needs of young people.
You will also be an integral member of a multi-agency service that works collaboratively with the youth justice service, complex safeguarding social workers, police, health, education and traditional social care services to safeguard vulnerable children and young people.
About you
Our children and young people have said that they need this from you:
I want you to want to get to know me, the struggles that I have and the reasons that I keep going missing from home or care.
I might not make it easy for you, but you need to be able to work around that and be determined enough to keep trying to reach out to me if I refuse to speak to you.
I might not understand that I am not safe, or well, but you will need to interpret information and situations to know what risk and safeguarding issues I face.
I expect you will have to record that information somewhere, and make sure you share it with the right people so that they can try to find me if I go missing again.
It's all about how you come across to me. I need someone who is going to listen to me and not tell me what to do because that makes me angry and upset and stops me hearing what you have to say.
Your style and approach will reflect our EPIC values and behaviours: you will be committed to continually learning & improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes;
If you feel that you have the requirements for this post, then we would love to hear from you.
