MMW Global Marketing & Communications Manager
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Location: Hybrid - Southwark or Poole
Contract Type: Permanent, Salaried
Merlin's Magic Wand is Merlin Entertainments' dedicated charity, focused on bringing magic to children who need it most. We're seeking a dynamic Global Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team to amplify our mission through creative content, impactful campaigns and engagement strategies.
As the Global Marketing & Communications Manager for Merlin's Magic Wand you will be responsible for all aspects of marketing, communications, and public relations for the charity, upholding the brand reputation in line with our social media marketing plans and external communications strategies. In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to work across our Merlin attractions to create engaging, sensitive and educational photo and video shoots with some of our Magic Wand families and the incredible children that we work with. You'll champion the charity both internally across the wider Merlin group, and externally through our various media channels.
The main responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
Digital Marketing & Communications

• Monitor, manage, and uphold organisation's brand and reputation.
• Lead the development of an annual social media marketing plan.
• Plan and execute family photo/video shoots and edit content.
• Develop annual email marketing plan, including creation and distribution of emails using the Charity's and Foundation's CRM of record (currently, Donorfy and FlipCause, respectively).
• Monitor and adjust brand to fit evergreen accessible brand standards.
• Enhance and develop charity brand to parallel Merlin Entertainments and their wider ESG strategy.
• Present Quarterly updates for JMC and Board meetings.
• Create an annual Impact Report.
• Working with MMW Partnerships & Fundraising Managers, develop fundraising pitches and PR opportunities for potential corporate partners.

Traditional Marketing & Communications

• Develop an annual plan for marketing and communication strategies.
• Implement attraction-based community outreach, marketing, and stakeholder management strategies.
• Create high-quality internal and external communications items to educate audiences about MMW's work around the globe.
• Utilise software to design and create marketing materials (signage, brochures, newsletters, etc.).
• Identify and manage master media list.
• Write and distribute press releases.
• Coordinate media interviews and coverage as needed.

Public Relations

• Manage coordination of photoshoots, news and media appearances, and video editing.
• Manage any press inquiries for news coverage, including crisis communications, family stories, event coverage, etc.
• Coordinate interviews with media partners for fundraising campaigns (i.e., #GivingTuesday)
• Interact with spokespersons and leadership to coordinate media interviews (including messaging, background info and coaching as needed).
• Develop storyboards, scripts, RAMS, and shot lists for promotional videography and/or photography.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, digital communications, or related field
• Proven, extensive experience within a marketing specialism
• You will have previously created and delivered press releases, worked with design software (Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite) and social media platforms, with proven experience in identifying marketing trends
• Excellent time management and communication skills, both in written and verbal communication
• Previous experience with holding a budget and managing a team is essential
• Excellent time management skills; ability to prioritise own workload, work calmly under pressure, plan and manage tasks to ensure costs are always under control
• Strong organisational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a creative thinker
• Tactful, flexible, diplomatic, and trustworthy with a positive attitude
• A self-starter who is happy to work independently and is also a good team player
• Ideally, you will have previously worked in charity marketing
