Business Support Services Branch provides a wide range of specialist support to GMP, enabling the Force to provide the best possible service to the public of Greater Manchester.

The Facilities Section of the Business Support Services Branch is made up of various units. All of these units assist the Force in tackling crime by ensuring that GMP Officers and Police Staff are equipped with the right buildings, facilities and equipment to provide the most proficient and supportive service available. Facilities Staff are committed to promoting and enhancing the appearance and condition of the GMP Estate and to improving the processes by which we deliver services in supporting our customers\' objectives.

GMP are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Cook. The successful candidate will be a dedicated hands on person with a flexible approach to the preparation and delivery of a breakfast and lunch service. Providing meals, snacks, beverages and hospitality to officers, police support staff and visitors to the force. You will assist the Unit Catering Manager with the preparation and service of food and beverages during opening hours, maintaining a high level of service at all times. You will undertake simple cooking tasks, and assist in preparing, delivering and serving hospitality to various locations within the building. Training will be given in the use of techniques, procedures, policies and the safe handling of equipment and materials.

The position is based at our Force Headquarters but will also be required to provide cover for approx. 6 weeks leave at another small site at Ashton and very occasional cover at our facility at the Force training centre in Prestwich.

It is essential to the role that you are fit to carry out duties that involve lifting, carrying, loading, unloading and handling equipment materials. You will be responsible for the cleaning of work areas including floors, equipment, dining areas and all associated areas to ensure that cleanliness is maintained at all times. You will be expected to adapt a flexible approach and work within a small team to deliver the best service to your customers.
