Monday - Friday 8:00am - 17:00pm (with on-call requirements)

Role OverviewAn exciting opportunity to join our team as a Multi-skilled Service Engineer supporting Becton Dickinson's facilities across Crawley, Reading, and Winnersh. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance services across multiple sites, ensuring optimal building performance and compliance with all statutory requirements.

Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesMaintenance Operationso Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across mechanical and electrical building services

Respond to reactive maintenance requests and emergency call-outs Perform fault diagnosis and repair on HVAC systems, electrical installations, and building fabric Conduct statutory compliance testing including emergency lighting, fire alarm testing, and water hygiene monitoring Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities on CAFM systems

Technical Systems Managemento Operate and maintain Air Handling Units, Fan Coil Units, and associated HVAC equipment

Perform electrical installations, testing, and minor repairs Conduct basic plumbing and drainage maintenance Maintain and service UPS systems, generators, and emergency power supplies Support BMS (Building Management System) operations and troubleshooting

Health & Safety Complianceo Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with JLL and client Health & Safety policies

Complete risk assessments and method statements as required Maintain up-to-date training records and certifications Report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly Ensure compliance with all statutory regulations including L8, LOLER, and electrical safety

Client Service Excellenceo Provide excellent customer service to Becton Dickinson staff and visitors

Communicate effectively with site stakeholders regarding maintenance activities Ensure minimal disruption to business operations during maintenance work Respond professionally to client requests and queries

Reporting & Administrationo Complete detailed work reports and update job status on CAFM systems

Assist with the preparation of quotations for additional works Maintain accurate records of spare parts and consumables usage Participate in regular team meetings and client reviews

Essential Qualifications & ExperienceTechnical Qualificationso Multi-skilled engineering apprenticeship or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering)

18th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations (BS7671) City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Installation or Mechanical Engineering Valid UK Driving License

Desirable Qualificationso 17th/18th Edition Electrical Testing & Inspection (2391/2394/2395)

F-Gas certification for refrigeration systems IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) certification Water hygiene (L8) training certification BMS/Controls systems experience

Technical Experienceo Minimum 3-5 years experience in building services maintenance

Experience working in commercial, industrial, or pharmaceutical environments Knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical installations, and building fabric Familiarity with CAFM systems and mobile technology Experience with statutory compliance testing and certification

Personal Skillso Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Flexible approach to working hours and travel between sites Professional appearance and customer-focused attitude IT literacy including MS Office applications

Working ArrangementsThis is a mobile role requiring travel between Becton Dickinson sites in Crawley, Reading, and Winnersh. A company vehicle will be provided along with fuel card, tools, and equipment. Out-of-hours call-out duties will be required as part of a rota system.
