We are seeking a skilled Mobile Fabric Engineer to deliver a high-quality building services maintenance service across client properties in the County Durham region.


The role will focus on fabric-related repairs including carpentry, joinery, minor plumbing, and general building maintenance, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently, safely, and to a professional standard.


You will play a key role in maintaining properties to the highest standards and exceeding customer expectations.





This is a mobile, hands-on role requiring flexibility, problem-solving skills, and a multi-skilled approach. You will be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works, ensuring all tasks issued through the helpdesk are completed within agreed timeframes.


You will act as the client-facing representative of the company, maintaining professional standards while proactively identifying opportunities to improve service delivery and contribute to a safe working environment.


Key Responsibilities




Deliver fabric-related building maintenance including carpentry, joinery, minor plumbing, painting and decorating, and other multi-trade tasks. Undertake both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) works in line with agreed service levels. Ensure all equipment and areas conform to company standards and operate to specified performance criteria. Act as a professional representative of the company, maintaining high standards of customer service. Carry out exterior works, roof repairs, ceiling, wall, and floor tile maintenance as required. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and administration relating to tasks, H&S compliance, and risk assessments. Proactively liaise with clients to address concerns or escalate issues as appropriate. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, COSHH, risk assessments, and method statements. Suggest improvements and innovations to enhance service delivery. Use PDA devices for task management and reporting.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications




NVQ/City & Guilds in carpentry, woodworking, or a related trade OR time-served multi-trade operative with strong carpentry/joinery experience. Experience in multi-trade building services maintenance, including reactive and PPM works. Experience working within FM or building services in commercial properties preferred. Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments, and method statements. Ability to complete manual handling tasks and physically demanding work.

Full UK driving licence essential.

IPAF / PASMA training desirable (training can be provided). Willingness to undertake emergency light testing, plumbing, carpentry, water hygiene, and other FM tasks. Professional, customer-focused attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
