We're now looking for a
Mobile Fitter
to join our Field Maintenance Services team, supporting customers across the UK. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role where you'll service, repair, and maintain plant and welfare equipment on-site, ensuring safety, quality, and reliability at all times.
About the Role
As a Mobile Fitter, you'll work as part of a professional maintenance team in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. While your primary focus will be customer sites, you'll also support depot hire operations when required.
You'll be proactive, adaptable, and passionate about delivering high-quality workmanship while representing Garic professionally at all times.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Safety
Work safely at all times, following H&S procedures and PPE requirements
Maintain good housekeeping standards
Attend toolbox talks and report near misses
Maintain regular contact with planners while on site
Quality
Deliver high-quality repair and maintenance services
Carry appropriate parts to achieve first-time fixes
Carry out preventative maintenance and report faults
Communicate clearly with customers about work required
Identify and report damage to the FMS desk
Cost & Efficiency
Diagnose faults accurately to reduce repeat visits
Plan routes efficiently to avoid delays
Highlight potential issues before breakdowns occur
Delivery
Complete daily workloads within agreed times
Communicate delays or issues with the FMS team
Attend sites at agreed customer times
People & Customer Focus
Work collaboratively and support colleagues when required
Be flexible with hours, overtime, and location changes
Represent Garic professionally and live our core values
Resolve customer issues wherever possible
What You'll Bring
Essential:
Mechanical engineering background
Low-voltage DC experience (e.g. automotive)
Experience working with diesel generators
Basic plumbing skills
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
Basic fabrication skills
Basic hydraulics knowledge
CSCS site card
Mechanical or automotive qualification
