Household Waste Recycling (HWRC) Operative, mobile between sites.
Location:
South Cumbria , Barrow-in-Furness, Ulverston and Millom in particular, as required.
Salary:
13.07 per hour initially, plus enhancements for weekend working.
Hours:
40 hours per shift / working 4 days on and 4 days off
Working Pattern:
Days to be confirmed , non fixed pattern, will involve weekend work.
Must have a driving licence to travel between sites as required.
Purpose of the role:
Responsible for the day to day running of the HWRC site in an effective and efficient manner. Ensuring at all times a high standard of customer service is provided and advice on the operation of the site to the public. Being courteous, polite, helpful and presentable at all times whilst carrying out duties. Encouraging members of the public to recycle and segregate their waste. Compliance with the environmental permit (site licence), planning permission and Health & Safety rules as these are an important part of the role.
The successful candidate must have a driving licence and access to their own transport, and be flexible to work at other HWRC sites as required.
Main role responsibilities:
Operatives are expected to offer assistance to all members of the public. Assistance may take the form of verbal instruction and/or physical help in segregating, lifting and carrying waste on site, segregating waste and distributing it to the relevant skips and containers. Waste that has been put in an incorrect skip can be retrieved for recycling purposes as long as it is safe to do so and company procedures are followed.
To act as Traffic Marshalls when designated.
Operatives are responsible for site security. This will include the following tasks upon the end of their shift.
Act responsibly in relation to all matters which may affect the Health and Safety of yourselves and others whilst on Company premises, customers' premises and travelling between sites, and to adhere to safety regulations at all times
Observe all safety procedures and instructions and assist in maintaining a safe workplace and reporting any accidents, hazards, near misses, damages or defects to tools and equipment to the appropriate person
Have a positive attitude to your work and be a proactive member of the team
Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues and customers
Demonstrate a conscientious and personable attitude toward customers and members of the public, whilst carrying out duties on behalf of Cumbria Waste Recycling Ltd
Qualifications / Experience
No formal qualifications are required for this role - full training will be given.
