About the role



Reporting to UK Service Assurance Lead the Monitoring & Patching Engineer, you will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance and support of Ekco UK's monitoring and patching platforms. Proactively monitoring our own and customers systems for all critical performance and availability metrics in addition to ensuring timely deployment of patches across our customers support estates. Working within our service assurance function you will help minimise risk, improve service uptime, and meet key SLA and compliance targets for our managed service customers.



Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Design, implement, and manage monitoring & patching solutions using industry-leading tools such as N-Able, PTRG and other tools Collect and analyse telemetry data (metrics, logs, traces, events) to diagnose and resolve system and application performance issues Participate in the creation of Patching Policy definition based on good practice both internally and externally o Integrate monitoring platforms with ITSM tools (e.g. ServiceNow) and CI/CD pipelines to enable proactive alerting and resolution workflows Act as a Monitoring & Observability SME within customer delivery teams Support incident response activities and postmortems by identifying patterns, root causes, and optimisation opportunities Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to define and implement best practices in observability and monitoring Attend customer and project meetings to present monitoring and patching solutions including technical designs and policy Maintain accurate records of patching activities, exceptions, and compliance reporting for audit purposes. Support vulnerability management by collaborating with security teams and addressing CVEs and known exploits. Proactively identify and highlight risks that could impact solution success Review monitoring and patching policies regularly for relevance and efficiency. Propose improvements to reduce false positives, enhance automation, and increase patch compliance rates. Assist in onboarding new clients and infrastructure into the monitoring and patching platforms. About You o Strong experience deploying and managing monitoring, patching and observability platforms including N-Able, PRTG, Solarwinds

Requirements



Deep understanding of performance monitoring with a IT managed service context Experience integrating monitoring & observability tools with ITSM platforms Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure and application issues using monitoring insights Solid scripting experience (Python, PowerShell) for automation and integration Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and monitoring containerised environments (Kubernetes, OpenShift) Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking to draw meaningful insights from data Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing Strong oral and written communication skills with a high degree of self-motivation Proven service delivery experience in a similar role within an IT or professional services business. Can listen effectively, to diagnose a client's problem and find an appropriate solution. Experienced Microsoft Office user (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
