Self-Employed Mechanic - Campervan Specialist

Location: Kinmel Campers, Unit 20, Allitts Industrial Estate, Rhyl LL18 2PD
Contract Type: Self-Employed
Working Hours: Flexible (Mon-Fri core hours, occasional weekend availability preferred)
Pay: Competitive day rate - based on experience (discussed at interview)

We import, convert, repair, and upgrade campervans from all over the world -- with a strong focus on Japanese imports (Mazda Bongo, Toyota Alphard, Nissan Elgrand) and popular models like VW Transporters. Known for our honest, high-quality workmanship and custom builds, we're expanding -- and looking for skilled mechanics to grow with us.

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a reliable,

self-employed mechanic

with proven experience in fitting

cam belts, timing chains, brakes, clutches

, and handling full mechanical diagnostics. You'll be working across a variety of campervans and imported vehicles in a well-equipped and fast-paced workshop environment.

This is a hands-on role perfect for someone who takes pride in their work, values independence, and wants to become a trusted part of a growing brand.

Responsibilities:

Cam belt and timing chain replacement Brake, clutch, and suspension work General servicing, fault-finding & diagnostics Starter motors, alternators, batteries, pumps, etc. Work on VW T5/T6, Mazda Bongos, Toyota Alphards, Elgrands and other common campers Occasionally liaise with administration for technical queries or mobile call-outs Keep workspace clean, safe and organised

Requirements:

Must have your own tools and transport
Proven experience in mechanical work on a wide range of vehicles
Confident with diagnostics and repair (electrical knowledge a bonus)
Punctual, honest, and self-motivated
Capable of working alone or as part of a small team
Understanding of campervans & imported vehicles desirable
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred but not essential if highly experienced
