South West 4x4 are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be a qualified technician responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and safety. The applicant would preferably be an MOT tester or willing to become one. Knowledge of Land Rover vehicles desirable but not essential.
Duties
Conduct comprehensive inspections of vehicles to identify issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out assembly, disassembly, and repair tasks
Interpret technical diagrams and schematics to accurately diagnose problems
Carry out welding and fabrication work as required for vehicle repairs or modifications
Assist with the installation of new parts and components, ensuring proper fit and function
Perform heavy lifting when necessary to move parts or equipment safely
Maintain detailed records of all repairs, services, and inspections performed on each vehicle
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
Provide excellent customer service by explaining repair procedures and recommendations clearly
Skills
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read schematics and technical diagrams
Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
Experience in vehicle assembly, maintenance, and repair processes
Knowledge of electrical systems within vehicles is desirable
Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues efficiently
Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively
Good communication skills for liaising with customers and team members
Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and working in various positions around vehicles
Commitment to safety procedures and quality standards in all aspects of work
