This role is key to designing, maintaining, and optimising complex, high-traffic MySQL database systems. You'll also be responsible for migrating SQL Server databases to MySQL and improving performance and reliability across our data infrastructure.
What You'll Be Doing
Design, implement and maintain scalable, high-performance MySQL databases.
Migrate and modernise existing SQL Server environments into MySQL.
Monitor, tune, and optimise server resource usage, indexes, and queries.
Develop and test robust backup and recovery plans.
Upgrade MySQL architecture when needed and maintain server configurations.
Write and optimise stored procedures and complex SQL queries.
Collaborate with international engineering teams and support 24/7 business operations.
Use tools like Git, Elasticsearch, Rollbar, and Sentry for source control, monitoring, and analysis.
Mentor junior developers and contribute to architectural decisions.
What We're Looking For
Proven experience as a MySQL DBA and developer.
Strong understanding of server configurations, performance tuning, and high availability.
Experience migrating from SQL Server to MySQL.
Solid grasp of storage engines (InnoDB, MyISAM, Heap).
Comfortable working in high-traffic, performance-critical environments.
Strong experience with Git and monitoring/analysis tools (e.g., Elasticsearch, Rollbar).
Familiarity with data security best practices and modern database design principles.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Passionate about technology and continuous learning.
