We are looking for a multi-skilled engineer to join our Weetabix team.
You will play a crucial role in ensuring equipment reliability, taking charge of reactive repairs, preventive maintenance activities, and fostering continuous improvement in our around-the-clock operations. As part of a highly skilled team, you'll have the opportunity to support multiple facilities and make a real impact!
The Recipe (About the Role)

  • Provide engineering support to production, resolving breakdowns and assisting with the resolution of priority engineering issues as required.
  • Support and deliver planned maintenance to sustain the reliability and availability of our assets
  • To work autonomously, individually and as part of a team with minimal supervision and be able to make quick and effective judgements on actions needed to resolve problems and be capable of correctly prioritising support required
  • Work to company practices, procedures and rules to ensure health & safety, food safety and legal compliance are upheld at all times
  • Support external contractors providing additional support for reactive activities, to ensure company practices, procedures and rules are understood and adhered to
  • To have familiarity with and the ability to work on a wide variety of engineering assets
  • Effectively diagnose and repair plant equipment to component level (excluding high voltage and gas)
  • Report and escalate all equipment issues which cannot be effectively resolved to appropriate functions, including attendance at MOS meetings as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reliability of assets and engineering working processes
  • Support Improvement projects, identifying engineering root causes and carry out CI project work actions
  • Carry out effective handover to the oncoming team (peer to peer and line manager)
  • Provide training and support to engineers, operators and apprentices. Be a mentor for the development of engineers and apprentices and ensure they can work safely.
The Ingredients (What we need from you)
Key Skills
  • Demonstrable mechanical and electrical competence through training and experience.
  • Engineering Qualification or apprenticeship (HNC or above preferred)
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Strong IT skills to include the use of Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
Desirable Skills
  • Engineering experience in a food manufacturing environment. PLC experience preferred.
