to join our Building Maintenance Team in Herefordshire. This is a varied role covering both reactive and planned works across offices, libraries, museums, residential accommodation, commercial buildings, children's centres and heritage sites.
You'll be trusted to work independently, diagnosing and resolving issues across carpentry, plumbing, and general building fabric repairs. At the same time, you'll be part of a supportive team that values professionalism, safety, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance across building fabric, structural and civils components
Carpentry and joinery repairs: doors, windows, fire doors, kitchens, flooring, fixed furniture
Minor plumbing and mechanical tasks: washroom refurbishments, gutter repairs, fault finding
Commercial gutter cleaning, including the safe use of MEWPs or other access equipment. This may require occasional overtime or out?of?hours working to ensure tasks are completed safely and with minimal disruption
General maintenance: painting, redecoration, tiling, pothole filling, storage installation
Locksmith duties: ironmongery renewals, lock repairs, keys, security systems
First?response fault finding and clear reporting of remedial works
Safe operation of tools and equipment and compliance with health & safety procedures
Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in safe, clean condition
Accurate completion of paperwork and service records in line with SLAs
Possible participation in the on?call rota
Essential Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry (or equivalent)
Demonstrable competence in at least two secondary trades (plumbing, painting, HVAC, Electrical etc.)
Minimum 3 years' experience in building maintenance
Willingness to work occasional overtime or out?of?hours.
Strong problem?solving skills and ability to work independently
Good communication skills with customers and colleagues
Full UK driving licence
Willingness to undertake Enhanced DBS check and Security Clearance
Desirable Qualifications:
Fire Door Inspection certification, IPAF, PASMA
Knowledge of building regulations and listed building restrictions
Experience in facilities management or multi?site maintenance
