Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Multimedia Officer - Digital for a period of 9 months or upon the return of the substantive postholder to join our Communications, Marketing and Design team.
WHAT IS INVOLVED?
You will contribute to the council's social media strategy to support brand building by boosting visibility and engagement. You will also be responsible for content creation by developing a strategy, producing good social and video content, analysing usage data, filming, and managing projects and campaigns.
Regular activities will include:-

• Develop creative and engaging social media content.

• Manage content creation and the publishing of

• Manage the day-to-day handling of the corporate social media channels Facebook, X, LinkedIn and YouTube and review existing content making clear recommendations on which channels to use.

• Set targets to increase brand awareness and increase post engagement.

• Oversee, plan, and deliver content across different platforms using scheduling tools.

• Create engaging multimedia content (and/or outsource this effectively) across multiple channels.

• Undertake audience research.

• Manage and respond to social media posts as required.

• Monitor, track, analyse and report on performance on social media platforms using tools such as Google Analytics and Facebook insights

• Analyse competitor activity.

• Recommend improvements to increase performance.

• Manage a budget for social media activities.

• Educate other staff on the use of social media and promote its use within the council.

• Manipulate and edit film pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience

• Take a brief to grasp production team's needs and specifications

• Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film/post

• Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects

• Create rough and final video cuts

• Ensure logical video sequencing and smooth running

• Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry's best practices to maximise efficiency

WHAT WILL I NEED?
You should hold a degree or equivalent together with having experience of managing digital projects/campaigns and delivering a strong outcome in communications terms.
Ideally we are looking for someone with proven experience in content creation and proficiency with editing software packages (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Affect Effects, CapCut or Final Cut) to create engaging video for social media.

HYBRID WORKING
Durham County Council currently operates a hybrid working policy where a model of 2 days in the workplace and 3 days at home/remote will apply. This model is pro-rated for part time roles and arrangements are at managers discretion, alternatively you can work all of your contracted hours within the workplace if you prefer.
