The Learning Zone is seeking a passionate and experienced

Music Technology Tutor

to deliver the

NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Music Technology (603/7008/7)

to SEMH secondary school students. This exciting opportunity is part of our outreach programme, specifically designed for students aged 14-16. The successful candidate will play a vital role in encouraging young learners to develop practical skills in music technology and help guide them on their educational journey.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery

: Teach the NCFE Level 1/2 Technical Award in Music Technology, covering both mandatory and optional units.

Unit Focus

:

Mandatory Units

: Set Up and Operate Audio/MIDI Sequencing Software*: Introduce students to Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and MIDI sequencing.
Create Music Using Audio/MIDI Sequencing Software*: Guide students in composing and producing music using DAWs.

Optional Units

(choose two): Multi-Track Audio Recording*: Teach techniques for recording multiple audio tracks.
Use Multi-Track Sound Mixing Techniques*: Instruct on mixing multiple audio tracks.
Using DJ Skills*: Introduce basic DJ techniques and equipment.
Dance Music Production*: Focus on producing dance music genres.
Audio Editing*: Teach audio editing skills.
Sound and Music Production*: Cover the basics of sound and music production.
Sound Effects Techniques for Music Production*: Instruct on creating and applying sound effects.
Microphone Use in Music Production*: Teach proper microphone techniques.
Location Recording*: Introduce recording in various locations.

Software Proficiency

: Utilize industry-standard DAWs such as

Logic Pro X

,

Ableton Live

, or

FL Studio

for teaching and practical sessions.

Practical Application

: Organize studio sessions where students can apply their skills in real-world scenarios.

Assessment and Feedback

: Monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain records of student progress and attendance.

Supportive Environment

: Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment tailored to the needs of SEMH students.

Collaboration

: Work collaboratively with other staff members to support students' personal development and educational growth.
Essential Skills & Qualifications:

Teaching Qualification

: Minimum Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.

Assessor Qualification

: (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/D33).

Experience

: Proven experience in delivering music technology courses, preferably to secondary school students.

Software Knowledge

: Proficiency in using Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as

Logic Pro X

,

Ableton Live

, or

FL Studio

.

Communication Skills

: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students.

SEMH Experience

: Experience working with SEMH students or within an alternative education setting is highly desirable.
Desirable Skills:

Vocational Course Delivery

: Experience in delivering vocational courses to secondary school students or within an outreach programme.

IT Integration

: Ability to use IT tools to enhance learning and assessments.

Continuous Learning

: A commitment to personal development and continuous learning in education and training.
