Job Overview


We are seeking a passionate, adaptable, and innovative Technology & Robotics Teacher to join our team. This role will focus on delivering engaging instruction in First Tech Robotics team support and video game design and engineering. The ideal candidate will have a knack for connecting with students from challenging backgrounds, using creative and flexible teaching methods to inspire curiosity, build confidence, and develop technical skills. This position requires a commitment to hands-on, project-based learning and the ability to adapt to diverse student needs in a supportive, inclusive environment.Key Responsibilities

First Tech Robotics Team Delivery & Support: Lead and mentor the CREATED Academy First Tech Robotics team, guiding students through the design, construction, programming, and testing of robots for competitions. Facilitate team-building activities, encouraging collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Provide hands-on support for robotics projects, ensuring students develop technical skills in mechanics, electronics, and coding (e.g., C++, Python, or block-based programming). Coordinate logistics for competitions, including preparation, travel, and team management. Adapt robotics instruction to accommodate diverse learning needs, ensuring accessibility for all students. Develop the 'More Than Robots' elements of the First Tech programme, developing outreach events, social media management and team connections with the wider First Tech community.

Video Game Design & Engineering Instruction:

Develop and deliver a creative curriculum in video game design and engineering, covering concepts like game mechanics, storytelling, 2D/3D design, and programming (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine, or Godot). Teach students to use industry-standard tools and programming languages (e.g., C#, JavaScript, or Python) to create interactive games. Incorporate project-based learning, allowing students to design, prototype, and test their own games. Integrate interdisciplinary elements, such as art, music, and narrative design, to engage students with varied interests. Teaching Hard-to-Reach Students: Employ flexible, student-centered teaching strategies to engage students from challenging backgrounds, including those with behavioral, emotional, or academic difficulties. Create a safe, inclusive classroom environment that encourages risk-taking, creativity, and resilience. Use differentiated instruction and scaffolded learning to meet diverse needs, ensuring all students can access and excel in the curriculum. Build strong relationships with students, fostering trust and motivation through empathy and understanding. Curriculum Development & Innovation: Design and implement engaging, hands-on curricula for robotics and game design that align with CREATED Academy's mission and educational standards. Incorporate real-world applications and career connections to inspire students and demonstrate the relevance of their learning. Continuously adapt lesson plans based on student feedback, interests, and progress. Collaboration & Community Engagement: Work closely with other faculty to integrate technology and robotics into broader STEM and interdisciplinary initiatives. Engage families and the community in robotics competitions, game showcases, and other student-led projects. Collaborate with external partners, such as First Tech Robotics organizers or local tech industries, to enhance student opportunities.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in education, computer science, engineering, or a related field Experience teaching or mentoring in robotics, STEM, or technology-related fields, preferably with First Tech Robotics or similar programs is desired but not essential Proficiency in video game design tools (e.g., Minecraft for Education, Unity) and programming languages (e.g., C#, Python, JavaScript, block coding). Demonstrated ability to work with hard-to-reach or at-risk students, with a trauma-informed and inclusive approach to education. Strong understanding of project-based learning and differentiated instruction. Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills. Flexibility, creativity, and a passion for innovative teaching methods. Prior experience in robotics competitions or game development is a plus. Ability to pass a background check.

Qualifications



A degree in Education or a relevant subject area Proven experience in teaching or tutoring, with a strong understanding of pedagogical methods. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage students effectively. Familiarity with scientific research methodologies is preferred. Ability to mentor students and provide tailored support based on individual needs. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in lesson planning and assessment processes. A commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.

Pay: 27,000.00-34,000.00 per year
