Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing, SEN experienced Nanny, to provide exceptional care for a 4 year old boy with possible Autism. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing a safe and nurturing environment, that allows the young boy to thrive at his own pace while bonding with his father, who, in 2023, suffered a brain injury, making it difficult to look after his son independently. The child loves to play with cars, bubbles, balloons, rolling balls and also loves outdoor play, particularly when feeling overwhelmed. He also loves to learn through sensory play, experiencing the world around him.

A staggered and flexible approach to the role must be honoured, taking around 12 weeks before night shifts begin. Day shifts will apply only within the first 12 weeks, including shadow shifts with the child's mother in her home, to ensure the routine is learnt effectively. The days and times of these initial shifts will vary. Once this initial period has been successfully completed, the work schedule will be as follows:

Week one: Tuesday 3pm-7pm (4 hours) and Friday 2pm - Saturday 10am (20 hours)

Week two: Friday 4pm - Sunday 4pm (48 hours)

Day rate: 20 per hour, Night rate: 12.21 per hour.

The day rate will begin when the child wakes and the night rate will begin when the child falls to sleep. These times may vary while a routine is established.

Flexibility is required as more input may be needed during school holidays.

Communicate effectively with parents and employers regarding the child's progress and providing an accurate record of shift notes. Collect the child from school and take them for days out at the weekend, ensuring their safety during transport.

Skills

Proven experience in childcare or nannying is essential. SEN training and experience is essential. Ability to educate children with additional needs, particularly through play. Strong organisational skills to manage strict, daily routines effectively. Excellent communication skills to interact with both the child and his parents. A valid driving licence is essential for transporting the child safely. Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with children are crucial for success in this role.
