About the role
Serious and organised crime (SOC) remains one of the gravest threats to the UK's national security. It causes immense harm to individuals, communities and our economy. Many SOC threats originate beyond our borders - whether through the global trade in illicit firearms, complex cybercrime networks, or online child sexual exploitation.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) is at the forefront of the UK's response, working with partners across law enforcement and government to identify and disrupt the most dangerous offenders.
We are now seeking an outstanding individual to lead the Agency's International Directorate as Director, International - a key member of the NCA Senior Leadership Team.
What you'll do
The International Directorate leads the Agency's global network of International Liaison Officers (ILOs), operating across priority regions. The Directorate works in close partnership with overseas governments, multilateral institutions, and UK partners to gather intelligence, coordinate activity and develop operational capability through training, joint taskforces, and long-term engagement.
As Director, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the NCA's international network, ensuring alignment with UK priorities.
  • Represent the NCA and UK law enforcement at the highest levels internationally.
  • Strengthen international partnerships and deliver operational outcomes through diplomacy, influence and negotiation.
  • Oversee the International Crime Bureau and ensure effective integration with UK operations.
Who we're looking for
We are seeking a senior leader with:
  • A proven track record of leading complex, multi-agency operations or functions.
  • Deep understanding of serious and organised crime threats and the operational response.
  • Experience of working in an international environment or with overseas stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning skills.
This is a high-profile leadership role offering a rare opportunity to shape the UK's global response to serious and organised crime. You will bring gravitas, credibility and a commitment to public service.
