We are looking for an experienced National Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager to lead and further develop our SHE strategy across a network of UK manufacturing sites producing feed products for the agricultural sector. Reporting to the Operations Director, this role will play a pivotal part in shaping a proactive, compliance-focused, and safety-first culture across the business. You will provide strategic direction, expert advice, and hands-on support to ensure our people, processes, and sites operate safely, sustainably, and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements. You will lead the SHE team, ensuring consistency of standards.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop the company's SHE strategy, policies, and improvement programmes across all UK sites.
Provide expert guidance and coaching to site management teams on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental management.
Ensure compliance with UK legislation, including HSAW, DSEAR, LOLER, PUWER, COSHH, FEMAS, and ISO standards.
Oversee risk assessment, incident investigation, and audit processes to drive continual improvement.
Manage and support the SHE team (Compliance Managers East and West), set objectives and ensure alignment with national goals.
Work with operational and engineering teams to ensure safe systems of work are embedded and maintained.
Lead company engagement with regulators and external auditors.
Analyse SHE data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver measurable performance gains.
Support sustainability and environmental performance initiatives aligned with business objectives.
About You
You'll be an experienced SHE professional who combines strong technical expertise with the ability to influence, engage, and lead through others. You'll be confident working across multiple manufacturing environments and comfortable balancing strategic priorities with practical site engagement.
Essential Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a multi-site SHE management role (preferably within manufacturing, food, or feed sectors).
NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).
Strong working knowledge of UK HSE legislation and relevant industry standards.
Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Experience in developing teams and driving a positive SHE culture.
Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel to sites nationwide.
Desirable
Environmental management qualification (IEMA or similar).
Experience within FEMAS, ISO 45001 or ISO 14001-certified environments.
Experience working in animal feed, food production, or processing industries.
