National Services Manager

Job Purpose:



To lead and manage our national service operations across all depots. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will oversee workshops, mobile engineers, and workshop management teams--ensuring the consistent delivery of reliable, safe and efficient equipment to our customers.

This role requires a blend of operational excellence, strategic vision, and strong leadership capabilities. You will drive continuous improvement across our service functions, enhance technical capabilities, and support the company's ongoing growth and innovation.

Strategic Leadership

Develop and implement a national service strategy aligned with overall business goals. Identify and deliver service innovations and improvements across all regions. Provide strategic input at the senior leadership level to guide operational excellence.

Operational & Technical Oversight

Lead and manage all workshops, mobile engineering teams, and the workshop management teams. Oversee planned maintenance schedules, technical service delivery, and rapid effective response to breakdowns. Ensure consistent compliance with health and safety regulations, company standards, and industry best practices.

People Management & Development

Motivate, develop, and support a high performing technical workforce. Conduct performance reviews, training plans, and career development plans. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement

Ensure a professional, efficient, and safe service is consistently delivered to all customers. Act as a point of escalation for service-related issues and maintain strong internal and external relationships. Work collaboratively with internal teams including Hire Desk and Sales to ensure service alignment with customer needs.

Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement

Define and track KPIs to measure service effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and operational performance. Continuously assess and optimise work standards, processes and resources to drive service excellence.

Skills and attributes:



Proven leadership in a senior service management role within plant hire, construction, or a related heavy equipment industry. Strong technical understanding of mechanical repairs, construction plant, and hydraulic systems. Experience managing multi-site teams and mobile engineering operations. Effective communicator with strong stakeholder and conflict resolution skills. Organised and proactive, with a logical approach to prioritisation and problem-solving. Proficient in using systems and reporting tools. A commitment to high standards, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Requirements and qualifications:



Right to work in the UK IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification would be desirable Full Driving Licence (required)
