What we're looking for:



Nursery Practitioner (Level 3 Qualified), Deputy SENCO

(to support SENCO in charge),

1:1 support for Special Needs Child

in our setting. We're looking for a

3-day support: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, ideally all year round

(mandatory days) to do 1:1 with a visually impaired child and support other children that need 1:1 care and attention throughout the day.

Purpose of Post

To deliver high-quality care and education for all children in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Supporting Special Needs Children's individual needs, well-being, and learning journeys. To create an enabling, inclusive environment that promotes curiosity, independence, and confidence. To work in partnership with parents, carers, and colleagues to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Key Areas

Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. Planning, delivering, and evaluating EYFS curriculum activities. Observation, assessment, and tracking of children's progress. Working as part of a team to maintain high-quality provision. Building effective partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Safeguarding and Welfare

Follow nursery safeguarding and child protection procedures, ensuring children's welfare is always the highest priority. Identify and report concerns promptly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding and EYFS welfare requirements. Ensure that all children are kept safe, secure, and well cared for.
Curriculum and Learning

Plan and deliver a wide range of stimulating activities in line with the EYFS, meeting the needs and interests of individual children. Ensure activities reflect diversity and promote equality of opportunity. Provide both adult-led and child-initiated experiences that support holistic development. Promote children's language, communication, and thinking skills through high-quality interactions.
Assessment and Record-Keeping

Act as a Key Person, developing close relationships with children and families. Observe, assess, and record children's progress using appropriate tools and share information with parents and carers. Complete statutory assessments (e.g., 2-Year Progress Check) and contribute to transition documents. Use observations to plan next steps and adapt practice to support each child's learning journey.
Health, Safety, and Environment

Ensure the nursery environment is safe, clean, and welcoming at all times. Promote and maintain high standards of hygiene, health, and safety in line with policies. Carry out daily risk assessments and respond to hazards appropriately. Administer first aid and record accidents and incidents accurately in line with procedures.
Partnership with Parents and Carers

Build positive and trusting relationships with parents and carers, ensuring effective communication. Share information regularly about children's development, achievements, and well-being. Involve parents in their child's learning and provide guidance on how to support learning at home. Respect confidentiality at all times in line with nursery policy.
Teamwork and Professionalism

Work positively and cooperatively with colleagues to deliver high-quality provision. Contribute ideas and take part in planning meetings, staff meetings, and training. Support and mentor less experienced colleagues, apprentices, and trainees where required. Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain and enhance knowledge and skills. Adhere to nursery policies and procedures at all times.
General Duties

Be flexible and willing to assist in other areas of the nursery as required. Undertake domestic tasks (e.g., cleaning, preparing snacks) to maintain a safe and hygienic environment. Represent the nursery positively at all times, both in and outside of work. Uphold the nursery's ethos, values, and vision to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Notes

This role requires a full and relevant Level 3 childcare qualification (e.g., Early Years Educator or equivalent).



The post holder must have:

A strong knowledge of the EYFS. Experience in 1:1 support of Special Needs Children (Education Care and Health Plans), SENCO and strong knowledge of Inclusion in Early Years Settings. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. A willingness to undertake regular training and professional development.
Job Types: Part-time, Temp to perm

Pay: 13.00-14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 per week
