This role is subject to -
Qualification - Degree qualification in Environmental Health required
Registration - EHRB registration or Chartered Status with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
Exceptional Environmental Health graduates/apprentices or very soon to be registered/chartered officers will be considered on development roles.
Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
Driving Licence - The successful candidate should hold a full clean driving licence as you will be required to drive a vehicle adhering to council regulations.
DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance - this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Appointable candidates will be required to apply for a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice which can be viewed here. We have a policy on the Employment of Ex-Offenders and it is available upon request.
A vacancy has arisen in the Food, Health and Safety and Airport Team at Manchester City Council.

You will be responsible for a busy and varied workload in a friendly and supportive team, focussing on inspection programmes, responding to service requests, undertaking investigations and sampling. You will work across food hygiene, food standards and health and safety disciplines and full training and development routes will be provided. The team also has several Primary Authority partnerships. There may also be future opportunities to undertake Food Safety duties at our busy Border Control Posts located within Manchester Airport. This rota work attracts a 6.7% flexibility payment, a stand-by payment and essential car allowance.
