We are looking for a neonatal nurse with a strong interest in clinical research to join Imperial's Department of Brain Sciences in a key role that provides support for a multi-national clinical trial. The Centre for Perinatal Neuroscience has an international reputation for research in perinatal neurology and brain imaging. You would be working in the centre on the COMET trial, led by Professor Sudhin Thayyil, which is an NIHR funded trial investigating whole-body hypothermia as a therapy for babies with mild hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
What you would be doing

As a COMET research nurse, you will take a leading role in the management of care pathways for recruiting patients into the study. You will provide in-depth knowledge on aspects pertinent to acquiring and maintaining informed consent. You will work collaboratively with the research team and the wider multidisciplinary team and act as an expert resource for staff, researchers, research participants and patients. You will lead on the development and updating of local policies and procedures and contribute to the development of national policies. You will lead on the training and supervision of staff and researchers at various national and international recruiting sites.
What we are looking for

You should be a registered neonatal/paediatric nurse (RSCN/RNC) and have experience of working in tertiary neonatal units. You should have a good knowledge of NHS and NIHR research processes and ICH GCP. You should have good negotiating skills and the ability to work independently and a changing environment. Experience of working on clinical trials and their associated regulatory processes, is desirable, but not essential.
