Why this job matters
The Mobile Backhaul Network carries all of our EE mobile, BT Mobile and ESN network from the mobile basestations to the Core Network. It is a mixture of fibre, point to point microwave and now additionally satellite backhaul. The fibre backhaul is a mixture of openreach products and dark fibre where we are increasingly using access DWDM, and where we pushing the routed network further out to the edge. Traditional backhaul is starting to be replaced by fronthaul, and we are starting to utilise access DWDM and carrying CPRI connections to the Core.
You will be key to Design of the Mobile Access Network. Working on designs that are easily planned and maintained and meeting the availability of the network. Working with design of Cisco, E/// and Nokia routers, and moving into access DWDM and evolution of the network beyond basic backhaul. Working closely with the Network Principal Designers, Senior Transmission manager and the Router sub team, you'll be responsible for providing a key dependency that will allow us to remain at the forefront of ESN network availability, 5G rollout and evolution of services. This is a strategic position with multiple areas of the business relying on our team to provide their backhaul solution. It's not always easy, there will be bumps in the road but the benefits of delivering are there for all to see.
The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV)
