About the role

We're looking for an experienced Network Engineer to join NFU Mutual on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a hands-on technical role requiring strong networking expertise and the ability to manage governance, firewall rules, and complex change processes. You'll play a key part in maintaining and improving our enterprise-level network environment, supporting critical incidents, and working closely with vendors.
In this role, you will provide technical approval for network changes and ensure compliance with governance standards. You'll act as an escalation point for network-related incidents, including P1 and P2 issues, and work closely with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex problems.
You'll also support network-related projects, contributing to design reviews and implementation oversight, while maintaining robust security and firewall configurations. A strong focus on governance and process adherence will be essential throughout your work.
About you

We are looking for an individual with a combination of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a collaborative mindset.
Essential skills include:
Proven experience as a Network Engineer (or similar role) in a medium-to-large, complex environment.
Strong understanding of networking principles, firewall management, and change control processes.
Familiarity with ITIL-aligned service management (incident, problem, and change management).
Ability to work with multiple vendors and manage governance-heavy environments.
Excellent troubleshooting and escalation skills.
Experience in regulated environments would be desirable but not essential
Internally this role is known as IT Technical Service Analyst.
