The Network Team is responsible for the seamless delivery of all IT services across LAN and WAN including critical Commercial and Operational traffic. We are a tight-knit team of professionals, working closely with our colleagues in every other part of the business in a fast paced, competitive environment. The Network engineer is accountable for managing and maintaining network devices across all our remote locations, data centres and cloud environments. Liaising with hosting and WAN providers and other internal teams to ensure end-to-end quality of project delivery, BAU small change and incident and problem resolution. An all-rounder capable of turning high level business requirements into enterprise quality solutions. Meeting agreed business SLAs. and following an ITIL based approach for change, incident resolution, problem management and CSI.
Accountable for learning the estate end-to-end including supporting systems and services as part of wider engineering department. Working with architects, developers and strategic outsourcing partners in order to provide a high performing and reliable solutions to meet business requirements.
Ensure all deliverables are well documented, re-usable, tested and operate at a high level of performance. Ensure that code/configuration adheres to standards and policies.
Provide 3rd line network support ensuring that any incidents or problem escalations are resolved as per the agreed SLA.
Ensure work is of the highest quality and support others in the same approach through peer reviews of changes, HLDs, LLDs and network diagrams.
Ensure that the design meets the non-functional requirements of the Hosting Strategy, including (but not limited to) -

Assist projects to gain approval from the easyJet Technical Design Authority for network architecture and key design decisions.
Assist in cloud migrations and implementations ensuring designs conform to security standards and policies
Undertake the appropriate training and knowledge sharing with other teams (Including 3rd parties where required).
Co-ordinate overarching network sizing, capacity planning and forecasting on behalf of easyJet (working with internal and external teams).
Assist in conducting Root Cause Analysis and completing follow-on actions after Major Incidents.
Accountable for on-going, routine maintenance tasks undertaken in a reasonable time-scale so as not to accrue network ‘technical debt’.
Accountable for maintaining the network monitoring platform including the alert and event management

Requirements of the Role

Demonstrable experience of managing and implementing high availability and scalable enterprise network solutions, that include –
  • Cisco access, routing and core technologies
  • Dynamic routing
  • Subnetting
  • WAN technologies
  • VPN troubleshooting and creation
  • Multi vendor firewall environments
  • Low latency replication networks
  • Implementation of network access controls

Good knowledge of F5 Load Traffic Manager and Application Policy Manager highly desirable
Excellent WiFi trouble-shooting and support skills. (Ruckus wireless solution and Cloudpath knowledge desirable)
Great interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with all levels of project and business teams to turn vision into reality and build relationships across teams. Being able to get across designs to non-technical as well as technical project stake-holders.
Demonstrable delivery of high quality network designs and managing the sign-off of the designs with key stakeholders.
Demonstrate the ability to look beyond the network at the applications to provide end-to-end knowledge and skills to best serve project and delivery teams.
Scripting skills (Python) to help in task automation desirable but not critical.
Solarwinds network monitoring tool and additional module knowledge highly desirable. Some Nagios experience desirable.
Willingness to learn any and all relevant technologies to support SD-WAN and hybrid hosting environments.
Hands on Experience with AWS is highly desirable including deployment of Cisco CSR instances and AWS Transit Gateways, virtual Palo Alto, ELK stack, Lambda and Cloudwatch
Co-ordinating multiple 3rd parties and service providers to resolve incidents or to deliver new services. Happy to take control if required or step-back and be a SME when appropriate.
Good understanding of networking and network security relating to the following wired and wireless network technologies that include –
  • Networks – WAN, LAN, DC, Internet and Cellular networks
  • Network Topologies and Overlays
  • Resilience and Load Balancing – GTM and LTM
  • Cisco access, routing and core technologies along with ACI and Nexus technologies
  • Cloud service provider networks - AWS (VPC’s, peering, security groups, NACLs, Transit Gateways) and public cloud connectively to on premise infrastructure
  • F5 networks specifically APM, LTM and ASM
  • Firewall technologies - Palo Alto and Cisco ASA and associated threat prevention capabilities & technologies:
    • NAC and Remote Access, NA, MFA, SSL/TLS and encryption
    • Network and Security Configuration Management & Auditing
    • DDOS protection
  • Ruckus WLAN and Cloudpath
  • Forescout Network Access Control
  • SolarWinds – Network Monitoring software
  • Dynamic routing and network protocols
  • Subnetting and segmentation
  • VPN and WAN technologies
  • Low latency replication networks
  • Unified communications & VOIP – Avaya telephony and skype for business

Desirable skills such as:
  • Working understanding of compute, storage, physical infrastructure
  • Commercial off the shelf (COTS) applications
  • Cloud based solutions: Virtual and public cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
  • EMM/MDM and Unified Access
  • IoE – Internet of everything
  • Active Directory and IAM
  • AWS architecture skills including deployment of Cisco CSR instances, virtual Palo Alto, ELK stack, Lambda scripts and Cloudwatch
  • Azure Public Cloud networking
